Plymouth County Sherriff’s Department Learning Garden

We have been partnering with the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department at their horticultural center to highlight the local food system, connecting people with nature. Our pilot event consists of planting three raised beds in the picnic area of the farm. Food producing organic plants were planted to demonstrate companion planting and square foot gardening principles. The third bed is planted by Mass Audubon as a native pollinator bed.

Backyard Chickens

Together with Autumn Devito — chairperson of the Plymouth Agricultural Commission — Terra Cura co-hosted the Backyard Chickens event. It was a hit with the families to say the least! We discussed how chickens are a great addition to any permaculture landscape. A fun day of story-telling, creating crafts, highlighting what one needs to know to be a good chicken owner and introducing one of Autumn’s hens to interested kids and adults.
